I’ve been all over the place lately. Just life. I’m in one of those seasons where things like focus and intention seem nearly impossible, the daily tasks are neverending, and the curveballs just keep coming. Staying grounded in my faith and in His grace is what keeps me going. With August here, it’s time to start preparing and planning for the school year. Whether I’m ready or not, time waits for no one. Organizing will be the theme around here for the next few weeks. And of course, I’ll share what’s working and what’s not as I go. But for now, life lately…
What I’m Reading
Proverbs! I joined a group of ladies to read the 31 chapters of Proverbs over the 31 days of July. Full transparency, I got way off track so I’m starting again. I have been journaling each chapter as I study and I think I’ll put together a post or two sharing some snippets from my journaling sessions. Check back at the end of the month.
What I’m Watching
I started watching this documentary that a couple people I follow on Twitter have recommended called “Father of Lights”. It’s on Netflix and so far it’s good. I’m planning to check out Furious Love when I’m done.
What I’m Listening To
Podcasts. Podcasts. Podcasts. and Podcasts. Right now Hiding in the Bathroom with Morra Aarons-Mele, Black Media Minute, Being Boss, and Hashtags & Stilettos are in heavy rotation. Check them all out, especially the first one if you’re mamapreneur. It’s super helpful and informative.
What I’m Eating
I found organic beef in my local grocery store and I’m too hype. Been lowkey contemplating doing a Whole30 for a number of reasons. Not yet convinced but cleaning up our eating in general has been a priority for me. If I can go organic with fruit, veggies, and meats that’s a start! The first thing I made was taco lettuce wraps…recipe coming because why not?
What I’m Working On
All the things. Le sigh. But I’m really loving the work I’m doing for pop culture e-commerce brand Izzy and Liv. Working with so many talented black women writers is everything. This client has helped me really identify the kind of work and clients I’m passionate about. My goal for this month and beyond when it comes to work is “More of what I love, less of the rest”. Hmm…I think that’ll just be my goal for life in general now that I think about it.
On My Wish List
A Passion Planner! Okay so I go through so many planners every year just trying to find one that works. Spoiler alert: Haven’t found one yet. I’ve been stalking the Passion Planner though and I think it’s worth a shot. I was creeping on their site and see they have an academic year version available. I think I need it.
Happy August ladies! Let’s make it a great one. ~xoxo
