April!! Spring where you at though? Is it me or was this winter brutally long but yet…time flew by? That doesn’t make any sense I’m fully aware but y’all get me. With the first quarter of the year behind us, it’s the perfect time to stop, look back, reflect and evaluate. The journey of 2015 is only beginning ;).
Let’s sum up March in one word shall we? Work. I’ve been werking. Towards the beginning of the month the blog was a little silent and I felt like I was going through the motions. Most of you know I freelance in my
spare time and the “look for work, get work, do work, get coins for work” struggle had me caught up for a bit. March I gained some work, passed on some work, was passed up on some work…such is life.I think I’ve gotten the hang of things, for now. I also received a life changing opportunity that I’ve been praying for! Grand visions remember? Just wait on it.
As for le blog. Did you know she turned TWO last month? I know right. And I know what you’re thinking. Where was the celebratory post?? Don’t worry it’s coming along with a new look. I want to debut everything together and wasn’t about that rushing life so…being as though this is THIS Brown Queen…I decided to wait but it’s coming! What’s great though is March I’ve finally started to get the hang of this blogging thing. I’m finally connecting the dots and making sense of things like analytics, traffic, and the rest of that jazz. I’m learning what you guys like reading and that’s dope (note: these posts aren’t nearly as popular as my lipstick ones but I’m sometimes y’all read them and I said I would share the journey so…here we are). The result? My posts are reaching more brown girls! Let the celebrating commence.
Offline, great things are happening as well. From much needed blogger meetups in Philly (fellow Philly bloggers if you’re reading this and haven’t met up with us, send me an email so I can get you the deets!), to attending events, collaborations, and landing the opportunity to speak on my first panel (International Hair Meet Up Day Philly woot!). Basically, in a nut shell, I’m just out here trying to be great.
A couple notes. First I want to say…always, in all things, trust God. On this journey, I’ve had many no’s and there was a time in my life where a NO, or in other words a fail, would be the end of my world. I was so negative. But there’s a peace in knowing that all things are working for your good. When things don’t seem to be going right, or doors keep closing, or whatever the case is, always remember this. And the second: Don’t ever let fear stop you from doing something. Some of the greatest opportunities in life are right beyond the tip of fear.
Here’s to a blessed April! Excited to see what the month has in store. How was your first quarter? Let me know in the comments!
PS: This post was completely written and ready to go, and then #BeingMaryJane came on with this opening quote and it was the perfect ending to this post. If you’re not watching that show…please get on that :).
Stay blessed beautiful!
